We have received the attached communication from the Police and Crime Commissioner and Chief Constable of North Wales concerning the School Beat Cymru programme. This morning our Local Schools Officer Erin Hulley has confirmed the news.
PC Hulley delivers a critical service to our schools and represents a friendly face of the police to the children. We are angered at the decision Welsh Government have made without any formal engagement or consultation with the Welsh police and schools.
This news comes the same week that we have received our budgets. Schools are being forced to make a choice between providing the current service level or balancing the books and we refuse to sit back and see the detrimental affect this will have on the children.
We would encourage parents/carers to voice their own opinion to the Government.
