No Outsiders in Our School

In our ever-evolving world, it is crucial for our children to understand and appreciate the variety of cultures, backgrounds, and experiences that make up our community and beyond.

Teaching about diversity and inclusion is not just about recognising differences; it’s about fostering a sense of belonging and instilling values of respect and empathy. By embracing diversity, we are preparing our students to become compassionate and responsible citizens in a global society.

At Ysgol Acrefair, we aim to create an environment where every child feels valued and understood. We want them to recognise that we all different and we are all equal.

Developing our ‘No Outsiders’ Curriculum

Each year, as children settle into their new classes, they all participate in a class inquiry focusing on the concept of diversity and inclusion.

We were proud to share this work as part of a regional network, aimed at developing school’s understanding within the Humanities AoLE.

Professional Enquiry

We have also explored the impact that engagement with literature which promotes and celebrates diversity as part of a professional inquiry. You can read more about this in the document below.

Arts Council of Wales
