Dosbarth Gwdihw (Year 2/3)

Welcome to Dosbarth Gwdihw!

Dear Parents and Carers,

A very warm welcome to Dosbarth Gwdihw! We hope your child has enjoyed their return to school and is beginning to settle into the new school year. It has been an absolute pleasure to welcome everyone back. We are looking forward to a happy, exciting and fun-filled year of learning together. We have put together some useful information about the class.

Who are the adults in our class?

Our Dosbarth Gwdihw team is:

  • Mrs Rosen-Edwards  – Class Teacher
  • Mrs Wooding – HLTA  (Friday)
  • Miss Owen – Teaching Assistant

We are looking forward to getting to know all of the children and helping them to grow in confidence, independence and enthusiasm for learning.

What do we need to remember each week?

Monday 📖
Please return your child’s reading book to school.

Thursday 🏃
It’s PE day! Children should come to school wearing their PE kit.

Friday 📚
Reading books coming home for some cosy reading time!

What do we need to wear for PE?

On Thursdays please wear:

  • White T-shirt
  • Black shorts or leggings
  • Trainers
  • School jumper

Please make sure that all items of clothing are clearly labelled with your child’s name.

🌳 What do we wear for Forest School?

We won’t be starting Forest School yet. We will let you know when we will begin our 4 week block.

Children should come to school wearing clothes that you are happy for them to get dirty!
There will be plenty of opportunities to explore, investigate and get stuck into the great outdoors.

We recommend:

  • Warm layers
  • Waterproof clothing
  • Wellies kept in school (with your child’s name inside!)
  • If your child doesn’t have wellies, outdoor trainers that are suitable for getting muddy

We continue to enjoy Forest School even when the weather is cold and wet, so waterproofs and layers are always a good idea!

How can we help our children keep learning at home?

Each week we will send home:

Reading books
Spelling and phonics patterns

A little bit of regular practice at home can make a big difference, and we really appreciate your support.

How can I see what my child has been learning about in school?

Every pupil has a Seesaw account, where you can see messages about our class and examples of your child’s learning in school.

Please make sure that you connect to your child’s Seesaw journal as soon as possible so that you don’t miss out on all the exciting things happening in Dosbarth Gwdihw!

You can also message on Seesaw but this will not be seen during the school day. We will try to respond between 3:30pm and 5pm on school days.

📞 How do I contact the school?

Our school telephone number is:  01978 820 616

Please contact the school on this number if:

  • Your child is going to be absent from school.
  • There are any changes to who will be collecting your child.

You can also email the school at: mailbox@acrefair-pri.wrexham.sch.uk

If your child is absent from school for any reason, please contact the school before 8:50am.

How do I order a school dinner?

School dinners should be ordered using ParentPay by 8:00am on each morning that your child requires a school dinner.

What time does school start and finish?

Just a little reminder:

School starts at 8:50am
School finishes at 3:15pm

How is great work and behaviour celebrated?

Every Friday, we hold a special celebration assembly, where we recognise children who have gone above and beyond in their learning and behaviour.

We also love celebrating children’s achievements from outside of school!
If your child has done something extra special, please encourage them to tell their class teacher so that we can celebrate it together in class. This could be anything they are proud of, such as:

.Swimming certificates
.Sporting achievements
.Creative accomplishments
. Musical achievements
.Or anything else that deserves a little celebration!

You can send a picture of these on seesaw.

What will we be learning about?

This year, Dosbarth Llwynog and Dosbarth Gwdihw are looking forward to exploring some exciting enquiries based around the themes:

 No Outsiders

Celebrating what makes each of us unique, learning about friendship, acceptance and belonging, and understanding why everyone matters.

 Fantasy Worlds

We will let our imaginations run wild as we explore magical and fantastical worlds, developing our creativity, storytelling and curiosity along the way.

🌍 Looking After Our World

We will think about our wonderful world and explore how we can all play our part in caring for our environment and making a positive difference.

We are excited about all the adventures, discoveries and learning opportunities that lie ahead!

We are so pleased to have your children as part of Dosbarth Gwdihw and are looking forward to a fantastic year together. We hope it will be a year filled with laughter, friendship, curiosity, confidence and lots of wonderful learning!

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Here’s to a brilliant year in Dosbarth Gwdihw! 🦊📚🌈

Best wishes,
Mrs Rosen-Edwards
