Croeso i Dosbarth Robin Goch!
We are delighted to welcome all the children and families to Dosbarth Robin Goch and are very much looking forward to working with Years 4 and 5 this year. We can’t wait to get to know the children better and support them as they learn, grow and achieve together.
Who works in our classroom?
Mrs Halley will be teaching the class all day Monday, Tuesday and in the mornings on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons, the children will be taught by Mrs Brophy.
Please be assured that we also work very closely with Mr Allman (Dosbarth Gwennol) on our planning – we are a great team who are incredibly excited to get stuck into our new topics and provide the children with a rich and engaging learning experience this year.
What will we be learning about?
We have a fantastic year planned, with our learning centred around the Global Goals of Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Life Below Water. These themes will provide many opportunities for the children to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding through exciting and meaningful learning experiences.
Alongside our curriculum topics, we will also be exploring our No Outsiders project, which promotes inclusion, respect and understanding, as well as our Trevor Basin Canal Project, where the children will have the opportunity to learn about an important part of our local heritage and community.
Later in the year, we will be very excited to celebrate a significant milestone as Ysgol Acrefair marks its 150th anniversary. This will be a wonderful opportunity for the children to learn about the school’s history and take part in some special celebrations.
We will also be working very closely alongside our fellow Year 4 and 5 class, Dosbarth Gwennol, giving the children opportunities to learn and collaborate together throughout the year.
What do I need to remember?
- PE Day is Wednesday, so children should come to school wearing their PE kits.
- We will be taking part in a four-week Forest School block this year. Dates are currently being finalised and will be shared with you as soon as possible.
- Reading books and reading diaries should be brought into school every Friday. Reading books will be changed on Fridays, so remember to bring them in.
- Please ensure your child brings a named water bottle to school each day.
- School begins promptly at 8:50am. Arriving on time is really important, as we complete key daily routines and learning activities first thing in the morning, and we don’t want anyone to miss out.
Communication- How can I get in touch?
Please connect to our class on Seesaw as soon as possible. This will be used regularly to share class news, reminders and celebrate the children’s learning. However, please note that Seesaw is not routinely monitored throughout the school day, so it should not be used for urgent messages. We will check Seesaw after school and will reply as soon as I can. If you need to contact us during the school day, please ring the school office.
Please remember to keep an eye on both Seesaw for class updates and the school app for important whole-school information and announcements.
If you are eligible, please also remember to apply for Free School Meal funding, as this additional funding helps support opportunities and resources for our children.
