We are very sad that our Caretaker Mr Beckett will be retiring at the end of this term after seven years of incredible hard work and support. 
We are looking for a replacement to start in January 2023 .

The Governing Body of Ysgol Acrefair are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, conscientious and self-motivated person who would play a key role in maintaining our school site, to ensure a welcoming and safe environment for the whole school community. The successful candidate would be able to manage the day-to-day running of the school site, including repairs and maintenance.

The person appointed will be responsible for keeping the school secure, possess the ability to undertake minor maintenance repairs, decorating, check and maintain operational systems, carry out safety checks as required and ensure adequate records are maintained. As the main key holder, the person will also be responsible for daily unlocking and locking of the school. The successful applicant will organise the cleaning of the school interior to a high standard of cleanliness, having responsibility for specific areas and maintaining cleaning equipment. The caretaker will be responsible for the supervision of the cleaners at the school. They will ensure the efficient removal of waste from the building and the grounds, including recycling, and ensure that the outdoors are kept clear of weeds, litter and debris.

The person will attend the building as necessary outside of normal working hours in cases of alarm activation or other emergency. We are looking for a friendly and flexible person who is able to use initiative in caring for the building and school site.

It is envisaged that daily working hours in term time will be:

· 7:30am – 9:00 am

.  3:00 pm- 5:30 pm

Previous caretaking or DIY experience is desirable. The ability to prioritise and manage own workload is essential as well as a high degree of flexibility .

An Enhanced DBS is required for this position.
